History & Introduction

The HKSOE was incorporated on August 25th, 2003 by our Founding President – Dr. Albert Wong, aiming to promote professionalism of economists. After nine years of development, the HKSOE becomes a professional organization for people in any disciplines who contribute to the economic well-being and development of Hong Kong and the Mainland China. Members of the Society enjoy the prestige and privilege of associating with some of the leading professionals and being acknowledged and respected by peers.

PAST PRESIDENTS

1.     Dr. Albert Wong (2003-2007)

Albert Wong is the Director, Chief Executive Officer, President, Secretary and Treasurer of Minghua Group International Holdings Ltd, listed in NASDAQ (US). Albert is a qualified professional accountant and registered financial planner with various related professional designations. Before joining Minghua, Albert worked for Charise Financial Consultants Limited, a corporate financial planning company, as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.

4.     Mr. Michael Fan (2010-2013)

Michael Fan is the Chief Executive Officer of Redford Wealth Planning Limited. He holds MBA and bringing over 20 years senior management experiences to his role. Mr. Fan held key management positions with multinational companies, including Director and General Manager of A. Dransfield Co. Ltd., Vice President of Whirlpool Greater China Limited and he was the Managing Partner of the New York Life Insurance Worldwide Limited in Hong Kong before he joined Redford.

Professionally, Mr. Fan has been serving as Vice President of the Society of Registered Financial Planners since 2004, was the Council Member of the Institute of Financial Accountants in Hong Kong, Fellow member of Institute of Public Accountants in Australia and Fellow member of the Institute of Crises & Risk Management, Council & Executive Committee Member and Think Tank of Dashun Policy Research Centre, Director of Hong Kong PHAB Association. Mr. Fan was an Honorary Associate of Hong Kong Baptist University – School of Business.

5. Mr. Michael B P Ong (2014 – 2017)

Michael Ong is a co-founder of MiLOC Group Limied (ISDX: UK) and an experienced corporate finance practitioner in the PRC market since 2003. Mr. Ong is currently a director of Parric Investments Limited, an investment company which assists companies in corporate restructuring and fund-raising. He is also the founder and Chairman of Chi-med Charitable Foundation Limited, a company that provides free medical services in Hong Kong. Previously, between 2007 and 2009, he was CEO of Tadee Investments Limited, a private-owned oil storage and ports company in the PRC. Before joining Tadee Investments Limited, he was an independent non-executive director of Hua Kok International Limited, now Abterra Limited, a Singapore listed company involved in investment and trade in commodities. Mr. Ong holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Leicester.
